Path to the Truth

We offer money to get things.

We offer labor to get money.

But what do we want to get with things?

They say it's happiness and people and love.

If it is all about people, what is the meaning of life then?

Is everybody supposed to make everybody happy and eventually die?

Will we keep ignoring the world around us, the truth?

If not, then what will we must offer to get to the truth?

They say its belief and dedication and emotion.

But knowledge that is not true also demands belief and emotion.

How do we know if something is true or not?

They say it's doubt, and critique and questioning.

But in doubting, there is no happiness or fulfillment.

How do we make sure we stay on the path and be happy?

We do it by both believing and doubting.

We must doubt while moving forward,

and believe when we fall back.

We must fly high with wax wings like Icarus,

and believe in the people who are watching us.

So that next time we may make wings of steel and conquer the skies.
